The 2026 Yamaha YZ250X is designed for cross country and enduro racing, building on the foundation of the YZ250 two-stroke motocross bike with specific features optimized for off-road competition.

Engine and performance: The 249cc two-stroke engine is tuned for Hare Scrambles and GNCC® racing with a revised compression ratio, modified Yamaha Power Valve System (YPVS) timing, and a specific digital CDI unit. A high-precision Hitachi Astemo® Keihin PWK38S carburetor with a power jet and throttle position sensor aids throttle response. It also features optimized intake and exhaust, a wide-ratio five-speed transmission, a durable clutch, and a high-capacity radiator.   

Chassis and handling: The YZ250X uses a lightweight YZ250-spec aluminum frame. It comes with fully adjustable KYB® suspension, including a Speed-Sensitive System in the forks. The braking system features high-performance rotors and calipers. The bike has features for cross-country use, such as an 18-inch rear wheel, wide-ratio gearing, a side stand, and a sealed O-ring chain. It also includes durable blue Excel® rims and high-performance Dunlop® Geomax MX33 tires. The bike's ergonomics are designed for rider movement.
